Product description

Yamaha created its own legend in the 1950s and '60s as Japan recovered from the destruction wrought by being on the losing side of the Second World War.

Starting with a simple a two-stroke machine Yamaha turned its engineering skills to getting Japan's economy going again. Following in the footsteps of fellow Hamamatsu company Honda, Yamaha quickly turned its attention outwards in search of lucrative foreign markets in which to sell its wares.

Racing was the logical place to prove the strength, reliability and speed of its poducts and with stars like Phil Read and Bill Ivy in the saddle they were soon doing just that.

World Championships followed and some of the greatest riders of the 20th and 21st Centuries have ridden bikes wearing the crossed tuning forks logo (a nod to Yamaha's origins and status as the biggest musical instrument manufacturer in the World) to multiple world titles.

This new film is the story of the birth, growth and dominance of Yamaha, featuring superb archive footage and interviews with all the Yamaha greats we could get our hands on.
