Giacomo Agostini

Giacomo Agostini is surely one of the most gifted riders to have ridden in the Isle of Man TT. The Italian star first competed on the 37.73 mile Mountain Course in 1965 and scored a podium result in his very first race. Even though he only raced in sixteen TT races in his career he racked up an incredible ten wins putting him on a par with pre-war hero Stanley Woods. His epic, but ultimately unsuccessful, duel with Mike Hailwood in the record-breaking 1967 Senior will live-on in TT folklore as one of the greatest races of all time. Mike was gracious enough to admit he’d have lost if ‘Ago’ hadn’t snapped his chain at Windy Corner. A measure of the esteem in which he’s held is the constant crowd surrounding him whenever he’s in the paddock or pitlane – expect to see him mobbed at the Classic TT!
